Manager and Self Review Full Step-by-Step Workflow
This article will walk you through the full workflow from start to finish with the combined manager and self-review type, along with the direct links on some of the direct step-by-step processes.
- Admin – Creates template and launches review. See Start Building a Review Template and Launching a Review
- Employees/Managers - Receive email notification that review has started.
- Employees/Managers - Login to TriNet – Click Performance and Learning// Goals and Review
- Employees/Managers - Click “Reviews” on left menu.
- Employee sees their review / Manager sees list of their direct reports with message “waiting on self-review” under each.
- Employee clicks Review and completes questions (review will auto-save): see Completing a Self-Review
- Employee clicks “back to all reviews” or Reviews from left side menu again
- Employee clicks “Submit Review to Manager” button.
- Manager receives email “A self-review has been submitted to you” informing them they can now complete their copy. See Completing a Manager Review
- Manager is responsible for keeping the review moving at this point since they can see which of their employees are done.
*** If employee requests to make correction after submitting to Manager, Manager can click “Send back” to return the review to the Employee. Once Employee makes the needed correction, they need to click Submit to Manager again.
- Once all self-reviews have been submitted to Manager, click orange “Submit to HR” button (only active when batch is complete)
- Admin – Clicks on “Activity” in left side Admin Menu (this will show all reviews in process)
- Admin would reach out to any Manager that is not showing a fully complete progress bar indicating submission from their team.
- Once ALL reviews are submitted, Admin clicks “End Review”. **Alert message if there are incomplete reviews** See Ending the Review Process
- Context entry portion of Review is done, and no corrections can be made to reviews.
- Admin clicks “Release Reports” and selects option “Managers release reports.” See Release Reports
- Managers receive email that Reports (completed reviews) have been given back to them.
- Managers login and click Reviews on left side menu.
- Managers schedule 1:1 meeting with their direct reports and can click “Release report” individually as they see fit. See Managers Releasing Reports
- Employee and Manager have 1:1 conversation about review.
- If desired, both Employee and Manager can click “Add a Comment” at the bottom of the review and add any context from the conversation. See Finalize and Sign a Review (Manager)
- Once comments have been added, Manager clicks “Finalize Review”, and the eSignature button activates.
- Employee and Manager (logged into their own profile) click to DocuSign.
- Managers would download signed PDF of each review and email those to leadership (there is no batch download option)
