While you have a small library of preloaded review templates available with your subscription to PERFORM, you can also create your own customized templates from scratch. Here's how.
First, click on the green Create New Template button on the top right side of the Templates Page.
Once clicked, you'll see a blank template open up with a number of detailed empty fields in the main panel, and a blue box with the template options on the right side.
The TEMPLATE OPTIONS box on the right side of the page will configure how the review will be distributed throughout the company.
The Type of Review defines how the review is conducted.
- Manager Review is distributed to all managers to do a review for their team members
- Manager + Self Review is distributed to every employee and their manager who both perform a review, and the report results show a side by side comparison of results
- 360 Review is distributed to review panels selected by managers of each employee. When choosing a 360 review, you will be given the option to hide reviewers comments from the reviewee.
- FLEX Review is an on the fly review that sits in every Manager's review page, and can be activated by each manager for specific team members.
The Distribution selects who the review is relevant for, in some cases a review is designed for one or two departments like customer facing performance metrics, or it is set by default to the entire company.
The Frequency of the template is how often the review is distributed. For some companies, a smaller check in review is done on a monthly basis, while an annual review is distributed every 12 months. Not relevant to a Flex review.
The Review Period defines the start and end dates of the review. Not relevant for a Flex Review
The Content of the Template, the questions and the answers, is what populates the main panel of the review template. Here's a closer look at each of the elements.
The Review Name or Title is what the review will be titled. It's important to name your reviews descriptively that everyone will understand on first glance. it's also a good idea to avoid generic titles like "Review" because it may confuse the managers which review is which.
The Category Title is name of each group of questions and answers. Add more Categories by clicking on the Add category green button. In a review that measures Performance vs Potential, it's ideal to place all the Performance based questions under one category called Performance, and all the Potential based questions under Potential. That will simplify how your managers and executives read performance reports and get into comparative mapping.
Each Question is the foundation of the review. Add more questions by clicking on the ADD QUESTION green button. Here you can ask a performance based question and pair with one of four answer types. By clicking on the blue box under TYPE, you can select which answer type you'd like to use for that question.
Once you've populated the review with question and answers grouped under categories, you can Preview what the review would look like by clicking the Preview button at the top. Or if you wish to save and edit further in the future, you can click the Save Draft button which will save the template in your Draft Folder. Finally, if the review is ready to be published and distributed you can click the green PUBLISH button which will make the template LIVE and ready for distribution on the scheduled Start date.
